My Melissa chain

It was Vanessa's (my sister) 40th birthday on the 13.I wanted to make her something special. I decided to try a new technique. I have always admired Melissas chain which has just been published in Art Jewelry magazine so that was my obvious choice.

So I made some fine silver wire and a few links I made a small sample to see how it went. I decided that I dont like fine silver - it seems so soft. I got so frustrated with trying to ball the end of the sticks - It wouldnt ball unless I placed a piece of wood behind the work and then everything fused together. Eventually I managed to get it right but the fine silver was so soft that the pin came out anyway. I saw that Melissa pushes the jumpring closed afterwards to lock it in place. So I decided to try fusing both ends of the pins before assembling the bracelet. It worked! Yay. So I switched to sterling silver and balled first and here is my result. Thanks Melissa!

awwwww, thanks Nikki! It is always fun to hear how different people approach the project. Sorry it was being difficult.

Your piece turned out fantastic, by the way. I am glad you gave it a try.

Hey Nikki,

I wanted to ask you something for purely selfish reasons :-D.

I know you probably have a website for selling your products, but I thought I'd ask anyways...cuz it doesn't hurt to ask. LOL!

Would you like to join ArtFire.com? Its like Etsy, except that you don't pay listing fee for any item there, and don't have to pay for selling. They charge a flat $7 per month and then you can list endless amount of items there...never a fee charged for listing or selling. And if you can refer 10 people who will join their $7 plan, your site becomes free for life and you never have to pay a single penny ever. If you have a blog, you can have a mini selling cart from the site right there so you can sell on your blog itself. See my blog: http://Takung.Blogspot.Com...the Rapid Cart is on the right. It also automatically submits to Google when you list an item unlike Etsy. While I find Etsy prettier, money matters...lol! So I am slowly going to transfer my stuff to Artfire. If you want to join, let me know, and I will send you an invitation, so I can get credit. Hopefully I'll find 10 people, so that my shop there is free for life. Let me know.

Or if you know anyone else I can ask to join, let me know! ;D

Here is my ArtFire store. I still haven't transferred all my items there...but will do so slowly: http://www.artfire.com/modules.php?name=Shop&seller_id=25779

And you don't need to publish this comment on your blog. I didn't know your email addy, thats why I am sending this here. My email is s_nigam@yahoo.com.

Thanks!

Love,
Swati
