Melted earring

Aah. I hate it when I melt something especially when I know I should have left it alone. Melted an earring when I wanted to add heat texture because I thought it looked a little bland.
More scrap.

Made another chain.
decided to leave it all shiny - very pretty.

I sort of want to leave my bracelets unadorned. My idea being that they can add charms if they like or bead it if they are that way inclined.
I wanted to emphasise my new chain making skills.
I am very proud of them.
but Michaela says I must bead them.
decisions decisions.
Time is a factor here so plain is the way the shall stay for today.

Jewellery Stands

I thought I would give my hands a break yesterday.
So I helped Michaela and Paige make Jewellery stands. You know the headless women with wire
coming out of her neck and arms to hang your jewellery from.
I made one long ago and Paige wanted to make a similar one for her mother for christmas.
Michaela wanted to make one for herself.
They are still lumps of paper mache at this stage but I willl post a pic when they are done.

pendant

I am almost finished my chain (about 42cm) alright I suppose.

Now for the clasp and Pendant.

This is one idea I have. The top stone is a Flourite Cab that I have had for a while and the bottom is the stripy number I took a photo of (couldnt get the stripes in my drawing) I thought of texturing the metal around the Flourite to sort of match the funny shape of the bottom stone.
I am sure I will come up with a lot more ideas before I commit myself to anything.

chain and stone

Still making that chain.
It is 34cm long now. I wanted to make it about 45cm but I think I am going to run out of wire . So now I am hoping to reach forty at least (centimetres).
I went to a shop that sells stone yesterday - I had such fun. I could spend a lifetime in there.
I came home with a whole lot of stones. Not sure how useful they are going to be when it comes to making jewellery.

silver chain

I got my wire yesterday. OOPs it is SO thin.
So I started making a spiral chain with tiny tiny tiny links.
1.5mm ID.
Tiny. For me anyway
- this chain is going to take forever but I am determined to finish it.

chain

I have managed to convince Lucy to try something a little more difficult (not too hard though).
We are going to make a chain.
It seems almost impossible to bye sterling silver findings and chain for beading. So we are going to make it ourselves. I have ordered the sterling silver wire and it is ready. I am so excited (its always nice to get new things to play with)
Will post some pics when we have something to brag about.

The beginning

LuNi (pronounced Looney) Designs is the name Lucy and I have given ourselves.
We are both creative people who are always busy with a creative project of one sort or another.

Looney just seems to fit with who we are. And the creative workshops we have together with a lot of wine and laughter.
And it goes with our names Lucy and Nikki.

About a year ago whilst our children who are close friends played together. One night over a bottle of wine Lucy decided that we could teach other people to bead. We ran a few workshops at a few ladies homes when someone suggested that we actually sold some of the jewellery we made. So in a few days we made up some stock (lots of stock) and tentatively started to sell some of our Jewels.
I am happy to say we have none of that stock any more and although we still get together to create every now and then we are not trying to sell mass produced stuff anymore.

I am keeping my jewellery making as a hobby for the moment.

I recently did a course on making fabricated jewellery.
This blog is going to be an attempt at keeping a journal on the things I make using my newly aquired skills.
We will see.
